Easy to use to find shorts.
very handy. open circuits a little harder to diagnose
WORKS BUT THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO DO IT CHEAPER
I bought this specifically to trace an open circuit on a broken ignition coil driver wire leading back to the PCM. Despite knowing exactly which wire was broken (verified with a multimeter), the ECT3000 was completely useless at pinpointing the actual break. The tool suffers from extreme signal bleeding. Even when following the manual's instructions to lift the wand away and use the "Sense Lock / Sense Low" feature to lower the threshold, the radio signal completely saturates the vehicle's factory wiring loom. I turned the sensitivity all the way down to Level 1, and the wand still just screamed a continuous, solid beep down the entire length of the harness. It completely fails to differentiate between the target wire and the ghost signals jumping onto the neighboring wires in a tight bundle. If you are trying to find a break inside a thick engine wiring harness, don't waste your afternoon or your money on this. You're better off just using a multimeter to isolate the bad circuit and running a fresh overlay wire.
Big help in diag work. Great buy worth the money
